Volunteer Opportunities

Helping Us Give School Supplies

Volunteers are needed to help prepare for and support the annual HUGSS event. Opportunities include stuffing backpacks, event setup, and assisting families during school supply distribution.

Volunteer opportunities include:

Tuesday, July 28 – Thursday, July 30:
- Backpack stuffing and event setup
  - 9:00 am – 12:00 pm
  - 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Friday, July 31 (Event Day!) for the following shifts:
- Morning Setup: 9:30 am – 1:00 pm
- Midday Support: 11:30 am – 4:00 pm
- Evening Crew: 3:30 pm – 7:30 pm

Additional information and volunteer instructions will be provided by HUGSS organizers once they sign up, using the google form.

Donate School Supplies Through the YPG Drive

YPG will be collecting new school supply donations at the July 14 YPG Monthly Meeting. Donations will be delivered to HUGSS on behalf of the group to help ensure local students start the school year with the supplies they need.

Alaska Public Media

Monthly, on the fourth Thursday from 6–7 PM, Alaska Public Media gathers volunteers to call and thank members for their generosity. It’s a simple but powerful way to ensure people feel seen and appreciated during this critical time. And, it's fun!
