City of Lights
The Anchorage Chamber City of Lights
program encourages businesses and
residents to decorate with miniature white lights to brighten the winter months from October to March.
The program has helped increase community spirit in
the dreary winter months, has turned dark streets and parks into safe
venues for children, and since its inception in 1984
has established a new economic industry in the
city – lightscaping.
The
Anchorage Chamber City
of Lights program is all about making
Anchorage a more attractive place to live and building
community pride.
A lighter Anchorage creates a
spectacular winter cityscape! Here’s how:
- Install miniature white lights on
your house, around your windows, and in your yard
on trees and shrubs.
- Encourage your neighbors to
install miniature lights - make your
neighborhood the brightest in the city!
- Increase safety - light up
entrances and walkways.
- Businesses - put your building in
its best light.
- Make your building glow with
exciting outdoor illumination.
