Free Dump Days

Anchorage Chamber Citywide Cleanup: Free Dump Days
During the Anchorage Chamber Citywide Cleanup Week, participants are required to dispose of their own trash bags. There are no pick up locations or service provided to do so, so please deliver your trash after it has been collected.
To assist in this effort, city landfill locations will be open to free residential dumping on three (3) days during the week.

Orange bags can be disposed of at no cost during the week. Loads not in orange bags must be delivered during the below times.

Solid Waste Services (SWS) reminds those participating that it is MANDATORY to cover your truck or trailer on the way to the dump. Vehicles with unsecured or improperly covered loads will be charged the normal $10 fee.

Free Dump Days: Tips & Tricks
Another tip for getting in and getting out faster - bring your own safety vest.  SWS will have some to loan but having your own will save you from having to borrow.

Still planning to visit on the weekend - bring a book or the latest copy of the Anchorage Daily News to pass the time.  During peak hours on Free Dump Days you should expect to spend an hour (or more) waiting to weigh-in and weigh-out at the Central Transfer Station.

Limits

Free dumping during the Anchorage Chamber Citywide Cleanup is for residential customers ONLY. Loads must be in a car, unmodified pickup trailer or trailer with the load not to exceed the size of a standard pickup bed (8 feet by 5.5 feet wide and 3 feet high). The load must be secured or covered to prevent spillage in transit and must not exceed 1,000 pounds. All loads exceeding this limit will be weighed and charged $60 per ton at CTS and $50 a ton at ARL.

Free disposal includes five gallons of waste oil, one car battery and up to 40 pounds of household waste per day. There is a $20 charge for appliances containing Freon such as refrigerators or freezers.
